Accompanied by her overwhelmed one-night stand, a young woman makes her way to the hospital to end a pregnancy. Her journey forces her to question stereotypical assumptions about motherhood, care work and femininity.

Whilst writing and directing MOTHERHOOD my main focus was to find a way to give room to the very emotional and controversial topic of abortion in a deliberately unagitated way.
Abortion, motherhood, carework and the perceptions on what it means to be a woman and what is adequate to feel as such, are heavily discussed and polarized around the world. This story is an attempt to allow the viewer to meditate on the facettes and grey zones of those topics and normalize feeling conflicted about them. Even more so, being allowed to feel conflicted and still make a self-determined decision over their own body as a woman and human being.
